Join pianist Coady Green, clarinettist Bailey Hume and cellist Yejin Choi for two of Beethoven's enduring virtuosic masterworks. Beethoven's Trio Opus 11 for clarinet, cello and piano catches the young composer at his most charming and mischievous, a work of sparkling conversation, quicksilver mood changes and irrepressible wit, culminating in a set of variations on a tune so popular in Vienna that Beethoven’s contemporaries would have recognised it instantly. And in the Trio for clarinet, cello and piano Opus 38, Beethoven’s takes his spectacularly successful Septet, Op. 20 and performs an ingenious act of musical compression, preserving its wit, warmth and exuberance while turning public entertainment into intimate chamber music.
