Join us as we go on retreat with Martha, Mary and Lazarus and sit at the feet of Christ the Teacher.

Scripture tells us that the home of Bethany was a place of deep intimacy and friendship with Christ, where Mary, Martha and Lazarus were willing to learn at his feet. In the serene oasis of the Catholic Leadership Centre, we will immerse ourselves in the story of how Jesus encountered the friends he loved at Bethany. Through prayer, Scripture and reflection, you will be invited to encounter Jesus Christ anew.

Take a step back from the busyness of life and discover what it means to be formed by Jesus on The Bethany Way, and be open to where he is calling you next.

DISCOVER THE BETHANY WAY

This retreat is a free 'taster' of The Bethany Way, the Archdiocese of Melbourne's flagship formation initiative. The Bethany Way is an invitation to let Christ form you, allowing him to shape the person you are becoming and the way you live your calling. Every day, Christ invites us to become more fully the people he created us to be. This is the real project of formation.

Whether you are a parent, teacher, parishioner, ministry leader, newly baptised or simply seeking a deeper relationship with Christ, at any age, The Bethany Way is place for you to rediscover the 'one thing necessary' and let Christ be your Teacher again.

WHY BETHANY?

Bethany was a place where Jesus was welcomed as a friend. Martha, Mary and Lazarus opened their home to him (Luke 10:38-42; Jn 12:1-8), where Mary sat at his feet, where Lazarus was raised to new life (Jn 11:1-44) and from where Jesus ascended into heaven (Lk 24:50).

Bethany reminds us that Christ gives us his grace and mission in the midst of ordinary life. In our homes, relationships, work and communities, no matter how humble, Christ forms us for life with him and for others. The Bethany Way seeks to form people in this same spirit: at the feet of Christ the Teacher, in communion, for mission.
