Youth Leaders Training - 7 November 2026

The final Youth Leaders Training session for 2026 will focus on Safeguarding and our shared responsibility to create safe and welcoming communities for young people.

Youth and young adult leaders will be equipped to recognise risks, respond appropriately and strengthen a culture of safeguarding.  As leaders, this is an essential part of our mission: to care for the dignity, wellbeing and flourishing of every young person entrusted to us.

What the training will cover:

• Safeguarding information - an overview of relevant safeguarding advice, guidance and requirements for your group.
   
• Case Studies - utilise scenarios that may occur in your ministry and discuss how to address these situations.
   
• Risk Management - grounded examples of risk and mitigation processes with the opportunity for attendees to share any risks they've identified through their own youth group experiences.

Preparation before attending:
To make the most of this session, we strongly recommend the following:

1. Review the resources available on the Catholic Archdiocese of Melbourne's Safeguarding SharePoint site: PAH-Safeguarding - Home  If you do not currently have access to SharePoint, please contact: Safeguardingunit@cam.org.au
    
2. Bring along your own device to workshop a risk assessment together.  If your parish has already started working on, or has completed, a risk assessment, please bring it with you to continue refining it during the training.
    
3. Ensure your safeguarding compliance is up-to-date at your parish i.e. WWC check, Police Check, Code of Conduct signed and completion of the Safeguarding Essentials Training, if you have not done so already.
