Set in a mythic Sydney of the 1970’s, “Sebastian” is by local playwright Stephen Goldrick (co-writer of “Anvil” and “The Pyjama Girl”).A father and daughter’s imagined worlds clash as they deal with grief, expectations and artistic independence. Magic realism and Napoleonic tragicomedy haunt the late night city streets as garbo’s rehearse The People’s Messiah, and monstrous angels threaten the heroine’s silence with the guillotine.
Shortlisted for the National Playwrights Conference, the assessors called it “lively and bold in its frank use of the possibilities of the theatre”. Let your imagination run away with you.
