Vietnam. Two ship commands. Chief of Navy. And on Friday 9 October, he's coming to Queenscliff.
David joined the Navy at 18 as the youngest midshipman in his intake. He stood watch on HMAS Perth off Vietnam and commanded the warships HMAS Derwent and HMAS Brisbane. After 33 years he reached the top job, and he led the Navy through one of its busiest periods.
Few people alive can speak about 'Australia's Maritime Defence: Past, Present and Future' with that kind of authority. Expect real stories from the bridge, plus a frank look at what lies ahead as Australia's defence priorities shift.
