Webinar: Getting allergy information right

About

Accurate allergy information is essential for safe clinical decision-making. Yet allergy information in electronic health records is often incomplete, inconsistent or difficult to access and transfer between healthcare settings.

The National Allergy Council has developed best practice guidelines to improve the digital communication of a patient’s allergies. The new Best practice guideline for the accurate recording, transfer and access of allergy information in electronic health records (EHRs) provides a national framework to support health professionals and organisations to manage allergy information consistently across Australia.
Reliable allergy information can help prevent allergen re-exposure, reduce medication errors and support safer, more connected care throughout a patient’s healthcare journey.

Join us for a health professional webinar that will cover:
• Why accurate allergy information matters for patient safety and clinical decision-making
• An introduction to the best practice framework with core principles for recording allergy information in EHRs
• Specific clinical recommendations that apply to health professionals, including your role in:
-clinical documentation and management
-appropriate access to allergy information
-use of standardised allergy terminology
-allergy alerts
• How accurate allergy information can support medication safety, allergy delabeling programs and antimicrobial stewardship
• How the guideline supports national healthcare standards, interoperability (different systems communicating with each other) and My Health Record
