This year Council and Vinnies are joining forces to bring to the Highlands a sewing workshop that gives back.
Join us for a meaningful and creative day of sewing festive Christmas hamper bags that will help bring joy to people across the Southern Highlands community. Sewing is a wonderful way to use your creativity while making a positive difference in the lives of others.
The handmade bags will be distributed through the three Southern Highlands St Vincent de Paul Conferences. A Conference is a local group of St Vincent de Paul Society members who volunteer their time to support individuals and families experiencing hardship in the Southern Highlands. These dedicated members visit people in need, provide practical assistance, and offer compassion and support throughout the year to the most vulnerable people in our community.
With the rising cost of living continuing to place significant pressure on many households, the Vinnies Christmas Appeal plays an important role in helping to ease financial stress during the festive season. By creating a Christmas hamper bag, you are not only contributing a practical item that will be packed with grocery items, but also adding a personal touch of care, dignity, and festive cheer to each hamper.
We have a small collection of sewing machines, but if you'd like to bring in your own sewing machine, we are offering a free electrical tag and test service, if you drop the sewing machine off before 12pm on Friday 11th November. - Please make sure you let us know you intend to drop it off beforehand so we can assist -
Material, cord and sewing supplies provided free of charge. A pattern can be requested ahead of time if needed.
This event is brought to you with the help of the passionate Vinnies Creative Space Community Outreach team, come along, enjoy good company, learn or share sewing skills, and help our St Vincent de Paul Conference members spread hope, happiness, and Christmas joy to those who need it most.
