Sale School Holiday Clinics
About
Give your child the opportunity to improve their individual offensive and defensive skills in a competitive, detail-oriented atmosphere! These clinics are open to current U10, U12, U14 & U16 players of all skill levels.Led by Tresai McCarver, AKA Tre, who’s been playing basketball for 20 years, 4 years professionally, and who has coached for the past 10 years. She now travels the world to play and teach young hoopers!
We are hosting 5 clinics with individual signups to give parents the freedom to choose one, some, or all sessions. Each session is 1 hour long, priced at $25 per athlete. For those athletes participating in all sessions, a lunch break from 12:30-1pm will be allotted. Athletes must bring their own food & drink. Please also bring a basketball.
From coaching athletes in England, the Netherlands, America, and Australia Coach Tre has noticed that rebounding and defense are the most neglected skills. This is the perfect opportunity for young athletes to get a well-rounded experience to improve both sides of their game! As a 5’5 point guard, Tre averages over 7 rebounds a game and when compared to her teammates, she allows the least amount of points scored on.
The 5 sessions are described below:
👐 Rebounding & Boxing Out
Athletes will learn how to effectively box out, pursue rebounds, and develop a rebounding mindset. Rebounding is an effort-based skill that can immediately increase a player’s impact and production.
🗣️ Defense & Communication
Athletes will develop their reaction time, foot speed, and agility to stay in front of opponents. They will be coached to constantly use their voices because in basketball, vocal players are the most seen.
🏀 Ball Handling & Footwork
Athletes will develop ball-handling skills they can practice anywhere, anytime, including stationary and on-the-move, two-ball drills, and tennis-ball drills. They’ll also learn to connect their footwork with their ball handling to create better scoring opportunities.
🎯 Layups & Floaters
Athletes will learn the footwork, angles, timing, and coordination needed to finish effectively around the rim in different game situations. They’ll also develop the floater as a valuable finishing option for scoring in the lane before the defense can fully collapse.
⛹️♀️ Application Through Small-Sided Games
Athletes will now challenge their new skills in various competitive situations. Specific performance restrictions will allow athletes to explore their game in new ways through 1v1, 2v2, and 3v3s.
With only 20 spots available per session, each athlete receives focused attention, more repetitions, and faster improvement.
