EKIN Wine Co. is an independent, family-owned boutique wine brand primarily based in the Adelaide Hills region of South Australia.The brand was founded by veteran viticulturists and grape growers Mark Vella and Brad Case. The idea sparked during an incredibly abundant 2021 vintage when excess, high-quality grapes were at risk of going to waste due to rigid corporate contracts. Refusing to let the fruit spoil, the duo hustled to save the harvest. This grower-first, community-minded ethos laid the foundation for launching their own label, with their debut commercial vintage hitting the market in 2023.
EKIN operates with a "grower-led" philosophy, prioritizing meticulous vineyard work and long-standing relationships with local growers over corporate boardroom branding. With winemaker Henry Borchardt managing operations, the brand focuses on minimal intervention winemaking to produce expressive, clean, and highly approachable cool-climate wines.
