A Day in Carlton: Poetry walking tours
About
Join us at Readings' A Day in Carlton, 24 hours celebrating books, culture and communityJoin one of Readings’ own literary leaders as they take you on a tangled tour of Carlton’s past and present. Along the way, you will stumble upon local award-winning poets Ender Başkan, Laniyuk and π.O. (Pi.O.), in various corners of Carlton, who will bewitch you with their poetry.
Ender Başkan is a Melbourne-based poet, novelist, small-press publisher and bookseller. His debut poetry collection, 'Two Hundred Million Musketeers', won the 2026 Prime Minister’s Literary Award for Poetry.
Laniyuk is a Larrakia, Kungarakan, Gurindji and French political creative whose art practice is grounded in cultural, language and land reclamation. She writes and performs poetry, speculative fiction and short memoir, and is a visual artist. She has been published online as well as in print poetry collections.
π.O. is a legendary figure in the Australian poetry scene. Born in Greece and brought up in Fitzroy, he is a chronicler of Melbourne and its culture and migrations, and an anarchist.
