Join Cult Classic Lismore at the Star Court Theatre on October 29th for the David Cronenberg classic, Videodrome.James Woods stars as Max Renn, the head of a small television station specialising in sex, violence and anything else capable of keeping viewers watching. Hunting for something more extreme, he discovers a mysterious broadcast called Videodrome, an apparently plotless transmission of torture, punishment and murder. Alongside Debbie Harry as the enigmatic Nicki Brand, Renn is drawn deeper into the mystery behind the signal.
Convinced he has found the future of television, Max begins searching for the source. But the deeper he goes, the harder it becomes to separate broadcast from reality, hallucination from transformation, and the screen from his own body.
Released in 1983, David Cronenberg's Videodrome is part conspiracy thriller, part body-horror nightmare, a vision of technology not simply as something we use, but something capable of reshaping us.
