A Day in Carlton: Create your own audiobook workshop
About
Join us at Readings' A Day in Carlton, 24 hours celebrating books, culture and communityStories can start anywhere – down a laneway, behind a bookshop door, on the tram, or somewhere entirely imagined!
In this special workshop for children aged 9–12, young writers will take inspiration from the world around them to dream up characters, develop ideas and create a short story of their own. Guided by an expert Story Mentor, they’ll discover some of the techniques writers use to bring stories to life, before recording their finished piece with a professional podcast engineer.
The stories created will be turned into a special episode for The Readings Podcast. Plus, each child’s story will be recorded onto a Yoto audio card, to be collected at a later date.
Story Studios Australia is a creative writing school for young people, based just around the corner on Elgin Street and proudly part of Carlton’s creative community. They help young writers, both locally and across the country, develop their skills, confidence and love of storytelling.
Tickets: $60 per child, includes their audiobook on a Yoto audio card
