Ruthven Street LXRP | landscaping consultation workshops
We're removing the dangerous and congested level crossing at Ruthven Street, Macleod by building a rail bridge over the road. Removing the level crossing will improve safety, reduce congestion and deliver more reliable travel times.
We’re also building a new signalised and raised pedestrian crossing near the rail bridge for everyone crossing Ruthven Street and a new walking and cycling path along Ellesmere Parade from Ruthven Street to Davies Street.
The new crossing and path are the missing link between existing paths. With this brand new connection, locals will be able to enjoy walking or cycling over two kilometres on safe off-road paths from Macleod to Rosanna.
We’re also creating a new community space in Rosanna Parklands, where the community can gather and relax.
As part of the project, we’re planting 25,500 new trees, shrubs, flowering plants and grasses, including planting two new trees for every tree removed. Landscaping works will begin after construction in mid 2027.
Early works are underway and we are preparing for the start of construction in October.
Have your say on landscaping
We’re seeking community feedback on the proposed landscaping plans, including preferred plant species and opportunities to enhance local biodiversity. Your feedback, along with technical requirements, will help shape final landscaping designs.
Join us at an interactive local workshop for residents who live near the new landscaped areas along Ellesmere Parade and the new community space in Rosanna Parklands.
Registration is essential.
Note: spaces are limited. To provide equal opportunities for residents and to maintain session quality, please register for one session only.
Sessions on Tuesday 6 October and Wednesday 7 October will be held at Macleod College, Carwarp Street, Macleod.
The session on Thursday 8 October will be held at Banyule NETS Stadium, 2 Somers Avenue, Macleod
