POSTPONED: Saturday Studio Session: Solar Plate Etching
An introduction into non-toxic Printmaking within the Artist’s private vintage warehouse studio – this simple contemporary and safe approach of etching plates is an alternative to hazardous traditional intaglio techniques whereby acids are required to etch the drawing lines into copper plates. Participants will create a line drawing, etch the image onto a metal backed photopolymer solar plate using UV light (the sun or a UV light box), and develop the plate using water. A small edition of prints will be hand pulled on a Printmaking Press using beautiful 300gsm printmaking papers.
Solar plate etchings and impressions have reached the same level of being exhibited as traditional etchings and engravings in places like The National Gallery of Australia.
Cost: $20 - All materials provided.
