Time: 4.30pm - 5.30pm

Join us for the second twilight in our 2021 series marking the 30-year anniversary of the Royal Commission into Aboriginal Deaths in Custody.
Dr Alikki Vernon and Dr David Moore will discuss the concept of restorative justice and how mainstream courts can provide meaningful therapeutic interventions for our First Nations people.
Our presenters will explain how restorative practices work; explore why they have not been implemented more extensively and how Courts can assist to create better pathways out of the justice system and into rehabilitation.
Chaired by Magistrate Rose Falla with introduction by Dr Lois Peeler AM, Chair of the Eastern Metropolitan Regional Aboriginal Justice Advisory Committee.
Supported by the Judicial Officers Aboriginal Cultural Awareness Committee (JOACAC).
While this program is designed for judicial officers, the learning outcomes may be appropriate for some non-judicial roles. Please contact us to express your interest.
