Self-regulation in children is an integral part of working with children in disability and autism spectrum disorders. This workshop will focus on equipping attendees with the knowledge and skills of available sensory assessments (including feedback on the new SPM-2), and easy to implement interventions and strategies for children.
This interactive workshop will give participants an overview and opportunity to reflect and to extend
their knowledge of:
- the sensory systems, and how this relates to sensory modulation
- neurology and function and how it’s impact on regulation
- screening and assessment of sensory processing (including the new SPM-2 for all ages)
- self-regulation strategies and how they impact on sensory-driven “behaviours”, emotional regulation, and cognitive regulation
- What sensory preferences & difficulties impact behaviour and occupational participation
- creative ways to implement the self-regulation resources and our experience of using The Mightier app in therapy as a tool for bio feedback for self-regulation.
This training is suitable for therapists new to sensory processing or would like to consolidate their learning in this area. This training is a repeat of the Sensory Processing Training offered in 2020 through Verve OT (with an update on the new SPM-2 assessment and the mightier app). If you are interested in an update on these 2 new tools, please let us know.
Small group break out discussions are an integral part of the training (small group discussions will not be recorded).
It is requested that participants have their zoom videos on for the whole training and active participation is encouraged for maximum learning outcomes.
Please note that the session will be recorded and a link to the recording will be made available to all ticket holders after the conclusion of the webinar.
