Life Saving Victoria kicks-off Blue Connections 2022 with AFLW superstar, Tayla Harris!
Session: More Than a Kick
Keynote Speaker: Tayla Harris - Champion Boxer, AFLW Superstar, 2021 Young Victorian of the Year
Date: Wednesday, 2nd February 2022
Time: 7pm to 8pm via Microsoft Teams
Please note:
While we are disappointed that we cannot hold this event in person, the health and safety of our staff and guests remains the priority. We explored alternative options and reviewed the risks of each of these. After much consideration, delivering an online session was deemed the safest and most appropriate way of proceeding.
In some cases a presentation recording will be available and/or in other cases no resources will be made available after an event – depending on individual session circumstances.
Session Overview
Blue Connections is back in 2022 with sessions to connect, share and grow LSV's community. We are thrilled to announce the inimitable Tayla Harris, who will be kicking off our 2022 BC events (pun totally intended!) on Wednesday 2 February.
We are so excited for Tayla's 'More Than A Kick' presentation and be inspired by her amazing journey, learn more about what motivates her and lived-experience on being your best despite roadblocks and adversity.
'I don't waste energy on being negative, I will be unwavering in my pursuit to live in a better, more accepting society.' - Tayla Harris.
Meet Tayla
Tayla Harris is a dual-sport athlete, competing in both boxing and AFLW.
Harris boasts an undefeated record of seven wins and one draw as a professional boxer. She holds two weight division titles as an Australian Champion.
A superstar of the AFLW, she is a three-time All Australian, two-time Mark of the Year winner and was Carlton’s leading goal kicker three years in a row between 2018-20. She made the move to the Melbourne Football Club following the 2021 season.
Harris was subjected to online trolling after the now infamous ‘kick photo’ was posted to social media. She showed great maturity in speaking out and is now part of a movement to raise awareness of issues including violence against women and children, trolling and online bullying. She was recognised for her work and positive impact in this field winning the 2021 Young Victorian of the Year Award.
A household name at only 24-years-old, Harris was named as 29th Most Powerful Person in Australian Sport as the youngest athlete on the list from The Herald Sun and is the subject of Amazon Prime Video documentary, Kick Like Tayla.
Tayla Harris is an Australian sporting icon with a bright future ahead of her, and we CAN NOT wait to hear her story at Blue Connections 2022.
