Speak to Self, Speak to Others: April Anti-Racism Workshop

Join a group of Moreland residents and/or workers who are prepared to listen deeply and engage in thoughtful conversations with an open heart to reflect on and understand their own cultural and racial identity as well as the dominant mainstream culture, in order to inspire and inform transformational personal and systemic anti-racism action.
This workshop is the first in a series of six workshops which have been developed and informed by local Aboriginal voice and share a range of Aboriginal and Zenadth Kes community voices while also creating a space for non-Aboriginal people to reflect on their identity, power differentials and approach to the work of reconciliation and anti-racism.
Please note there is some (brief) pre-workshop reading/viewing (article and/or short video clips) prior to each workshop.
Workshop Theme: Situating the Self - making the invisible visible
Identify and understand Anglo Celt/white racial and cultural identity, the impact of white power on the lived experiences on Aboriginal and Zenadth Kes People; and our role in maintaining and dismantling this power personally and systemically.
Guest Speaker - Erin McKinnon, Settler Australian - Scottish, English and Irish heritage, Durrong Ngulu - Weenthunga Health Network
The session will be held online and include a Welcome to Country as it is the first workshop in the series, as well as interactive large and small group discussion following the guest speaker.
