Winter Sun at Warraba Sunflowers
UNLIMITED PICK YOUR OWN SUNFLOWERS- 11/12 JUNE
We still have tens of thousands of beautiful sunflowers in different stages of bloom. Unfortunately they cannot be harvested- they are unable to dry out sufficiently for safe seed storage with all the rain we've had.
We would hate to see the sunnies go to waste, so we will be opening the fields to the public this weekend only (11/12 June). If you attended our Winter Sun event recently, admission is FREE and you can take as many sunflowers as you want. New visitors will need to pay the standard ticket price, but can also take an unlimited amount of flowers.
Please note, the sunflowers are in different stages now and the crop is probably past its best photo opportunities. However, there are still many beautiful sunnies in bloom or about to bloom. There are also many flowers that have now gone to seed, so if you'd like some delicious sunflower seeds now is your chance to grab them straight from the farm.
Please bring your own secateurs or scissors. We hope to see you there!
Winter Sun at Warraba Sunflowers- 28 May to 5 June
Warraba Sunflowers will be opening our gates to the public again from Saturday 28 May to Sunday 5 June. This is no ordinary sunflower crop- it was planted entirely by our agricultural drones.
No more standing on the side of the road or climbing on car roofs to try and get that perfect photo of the sunnies! You’re able to walk right through the fields, and are welcome to bring along pets, have a picnic and arrange professional photography sessions. You'll even get to cut a sunflower to take home with you! Please note, we do not have professional photographers on site, so if you would like to have professional photos you will need to arrange this yourself with a photographer. They will also be required to purchase a ticket.
Ticket prices:
Adult (aged 18 and over): $10
Child (aged between 5-17): $5
Children under the age of 5 have free admission.
You will be required to show your ticket at the gate, or purchase tickets if you haven't already done so. Tickets will be available for purchase at the gate (EFTPOS only) but we recommend purchasing tickets online ahead of time. If you wish to visit the fields more than once, you are welcome to do so without purchasing another ticket. However, if you wish to cut more sunflowers they will need to be paid for.
OPENING HOURS: You can visit our fields on any day between Saturday 28 May to Sunday 5 June. The fields are open during daylight hours each day. Please do not enter the property outside of the days/times we are open to the public.
IMPORTANT: The sunflowers are planted in different paddocks than last time, and it is a 400m walk from the parking area to the main viewing paddock. It is a further 200-300m to the 'cut your own' paddock. Please ensure you are wearing suitable enclosed footwear- we recommend gumboots. If you require assistance with the distance from the road, please email pandora@dronecommander.com.au or call 0407 212 387 ahead of time to advise. We will do our best to organise an escort for you in a Polaris vehicle.
PICK YOUR OWN SUNFLOWERS: Each ticket includes a sunflower to take home. We will have a limited amount of secateurs available, so please bring your own if possible. If you wish to cut more sunflowers, they can be purchased for $2 each. Payment will be taken via EFTPOS (no cash) at the entry/exit gate when you depart. Sunflowers are only allowed to be taken from the 'cut your own' paddock, which will be signed. Do not cut down any sunflowers from the main viewing paddock. These are for viewing and photos only.
DIRECTIONS: The property address is 439 McNallys Road, Cambooya QLD 4358. There will be corflute signs from the New England Highway after the United fuel station. Please note, you MUST access McNallys Road via Watts Siding Road from the Cambooya side. The entrance to the sunflower fields is at the intersection of these two roads. You cannot access McNallys Road from Greenmount Etonvale Road off the New England Hwy- Google Maps might try and take you this way. Watts Siding Road from Greenmount has flooding damage and cannot be accessed currently. When coming into Cambooya, stay on Cambooya Connection Road, turn left onto Cudmores Road, and then Watts Siding Road. You do not need to enter the actual Cambooya township. Parking is available on the sides of McNallys Road. Do not drive your vehicle into the sunflower fields.
Please be respectful of the sunflowers and avoid treading on them. Do not draw on the sunflowers or pull the petals off. They will be harvested for sunflower seeds once their growing season is over. Please do not enter other gated areas of the property or attempt to interact with livestock. Watch out for barbed wire fences. If you are bringing along a picnic, please take your rubbish with you.
We hope you enjoy your visit! The Bull & Barley Inn in Cambooya does great lunch and dinner menus, and Rudd's Pub in Nobby is open from 10am to late. There are public toilets in the Cambooya township and a general store. There will be one portable toilet available on the property. Thank you for your support of a small family owned business and property- we really appreciate it!
You can find us on Facebook and Instagram under Warraba Sunflowers. Please tag us in your photos- we love to see them!
