QUALITATIVE RESEARCH METHODS
A SHORT COURSE FOR CLINICAL RESEARCHERS
A qualitative skills gap exists in the field of orthopaedics on a national and international scale, thus OPUS has developed a short course in qualitative research skills for clinical researchers to address this gap.
COURSE OUTLINE
The course will have two sections delivered over three half-days:
Section 1 (29th & 30th June 2022, 12 - 5 pm AEST): Introduction to Qualitative Research | Theory, problem and skill-based learning
- Explanation of the role of qualitative research in an implementation setting, covering the basic theoretical concepts and methodological approaches.
- Topics include: formulation of a research question, choosing a methodological approach, recruitment strategy, developing an interview schedule, interview skills, data analysis and presentation of findings.
Section 2 (10th August 2022, 12 - 5 pm AEST): Qualitative Research in Practice | Workshop your own qualitative study
- After learning the theory behind qualitative research methods, participants will have the opportunity to present their own qualitative research and have feedback provided to them by experts in the field.
COURSE DELIVERY
This interactive course will be delivered over Zoom, using break out rooms and additional multimedia content. Poll Everywhere and workshop-style lessons will ensure content is engaging and caters to each individual’s learning style.
