IN THE MOUNTAINS OF AFGHANISTAN, HEATH WAS SHOT THROUGH THE NECK AND ALMOST KILLED. WHAT HAPPENS NEXT IS AN AMAZING STORY OF RESILIENCE, DETERMINATION AND INSPIRATION NOT TO BE MISSED.
When you experience the worst day of your life, it is hard to look beyond it and see the positives. That’s unless you are someone remarkable like Heath Jamieson, a former Australian commando sniper.
Shot through the neck in 2011, in Afghanistan causing high spinal and traumatic brain injury, Heath went on to become a helicopter training pilot and a polar guide. He now inspires people young and old not to dwell on what irks or ails them, but to see the upside in everything that happens…good or bad.
Growing up in NSW, Heath joined the Australian Army in 2006 becoming a Special Forces Commando, deployed to Afghanistan multiple times as a sniper. It was during heavy engagement with insurgents on his third deployment in 2011, when he was shot by an AK47 round, rendering him temporarily a quadriplegic.
The Bullet struck the back of his neck, tracking through, fracturing his vertebrae and causing significant spinal and neurological injuries.
Years of rehabilitation followed, focusing on his loss of feeling, movement and learning to use his body again as well as overcoming working memory deficiencies and learning to read again
Since that life changing day Heath has skied to the South Pole, become a commercial helicopter pilot and shown there is almost nothing that can’t be overcome with the right focus, mindset and positive attitude.
Today Heath gives his time, skills and experiences through Operation Flinders to young people from disadvantaged and challenging backgrounds, helping them transform their lives and overcome adversity.
Guests will enjoy a 2-course meal and a 3-hour beverage package commencing Friday July 29th of 2022, at 12.30 for 1.00 pm. Cost is $110 per ticket or $1000 per table of 10. Seniors Ticket Price $90.
