Parijatham - Canberra shows (supported by ACT Government)
About
Parijatham is a timeless and iconic dance drama in the classical Indian dance style, Kuchipudi. It tells the delightful and at times comical story of conflict created between two of Lord Krishna’s consorts, Queen Rukmini and Queen Satyabhama, after Sage Narada asks Lord Krishna to give a divine parijatha flower to his favourite consort, Rukmini. This visually stunning dance drama performed by Canberra's Sadhanalaya School of Arts and supported by artsACT showcases various traditional elements of the Kuchipudi dance repertoire and is set to beautiful and haunting Carnatic (classical South Indian) music. Parijatham is one of 15 dance dramas choreographed the late Dr Vempati Chinnasatyam who was recognised globally for his lifetime contributions to Kuchipudi. For more info: https://www.facebook.com/SadhanalayaSchoolofArts
