The Venter/Neville/McEvoy/Cox Hammond Organ 4tet plays groovy, soulful jazz in the great tradition of Hammond organ groups ala’ Jimmy Smith and Stanley Turrentine, Jack McDuff, George Benson and Ronnie Cuber, Lonnie Smith, Richard ‘Groove’ Holmes and Shirley Scott as well as original music and beyond. Come out and hear their debut at the Murray Delta Juke Joint and they will pull you in with their mighty muse playing swingin’ standards, beautiful ballads and their own hip tunes.Dave McEvoy’s immense musicianship on the Hammond organ ties it all together, Stephen Neville’s creative and groovy force on the drums propels it along, Tyler Venter’s funky, soulful guitar complements all and steps up for sizzling solos and Grammy Award nominated Dusty Cox on saxophone ‘sings’ in the middle of this groovy goodness.
