Exhibition Special Event: A Peranakan Wedding (SOLD OUT)

About
The Beauty & Cultural Evolution of the Peranakan Culture Exhibition
For the first time in Melbourne in over a decade, a collection of artefacts and photographs from one of the world’s richest and most vivid migrant cultures will be brought to display. From the exploration of the Peranakan culture’s roots, traditions, and lifestyles throughout South-East Asia to the contemporary practices and communities formed through immigration to Australia, we invite you to join us for a journey into the history, present and future of the Peranakan culture.
Exhibition Special Event: A Peranakan Wedding
The traditional Peranakan wedding was an elaborate affair that brought together the entire community for never-ending food, music, and dancing as part of a lavish twelve-day ceremony of intricately detailed bridal gowns, meticulously rehearsed ceremonies, and stunning fine porcelain. We invite you to an exceptional afternoon performance of the near-lost art of the traditional Peranakan wedding in Melbourne, featuring rituals such as a tea ceremony, followed by special Nyonya kueh and photo opportunities with the bridal party.
