Austa NSW String Festival 2023

The Austa NSW String Festival is an event designed to give young players the opportunity to perform in friendly, non-competitive and supportive environment. Participants are invited to play one piece either solo or with an accompanist to the best of their ability. Participants will play one by one in a small group with other players of a similar age and ability.
Unlike an eisteddfod there are no section winners and no first or second places. All participants will leave with a Certificate of Participation, a trophy and an adjudicators report. Each session is expected to take around 45 minutes.
Participants are encouraged to wear full school uniform or dress in performance appropriate clothing.
Date and Time
. Sessions will run between 8:30am and 5pm. Players will be advised of their session time 1-2 weeks in advance and registration will be 1/2 an hour prior to their allocated time.
Advanced students of grade 8 and above, please take note:
This year, all advanced students grade 8 and above will be in session 1 in the morning. Many of the pieces in this session are quite demanding on our amazing accompanist, so to give everyone the best chance of permorning at their best, we have taken on feedback from previous years and all advanced players will now be in the morning when everyone is fresh. Thanks for your understanding, we understand that scheduling is always challenging. We are also enforcing a time limit of 7 minutes. You are welcome to prepare a longer performance but please be aware that you may be asked to stop at 7 minutes.

Accompanists
A piano accompanist will be available on the day but participants may provide their own accompanist. Please select 'accompanist needed' when booking your ticket if the player requires the services of our in-house accompanist.
The following information has been provided by Ms Cameron:
1. The fee is $60/30 min rehearsal
2. Rehearsal dates for the 21/5/23 will be on the 13/5, 14/5 and 20/5
Any extra rehearsals will be charged to you directly by the accompanist.
Certificates & Trophies
Each participant will receive a certificate of participation and a trophy. They will also receive a panel report.
