Exploring innovation: Site Visit

Materials Australia is partnering with the Surface Engineering for Advanced Materials (SEAM) ARC Training Centre to organise a site visit to Swinburne University’s Metallurgical and Additive Manufacturing facilities. Come join us to learn more about the state-of-the-art technologies, cutting edge research involving industry partners, and connect with academics and industry experts in the field!

The site visit will include a tour of the Metallurgical and Additive Manufacturing facilities. This will be followed by a short talk by Titomic, where you will have a chance to hear industry experts share their knowledge and insights into the latest developments in the industry. This will be an excellent opportunity to expand your network, build new relationships and collaborations.

'Additive Metal Technologies – The Challenges, Industry Needs and Future Opportunities'

Neil Matthews is the Senior Technical Fellow at Titomic Ltd and provides technical advice for Additive Metal Technologies (AMT). In his current role Neil is focused on delivering commercial Cold Spray technology solutions that provide new and innovative outcomes that a re both cost effective and enhance operational availability.

Neil has been pioneering the use of AMT in particular Cold Spray Technologies since 2004 and Neil has been working closely with the agencies such as Defence, Australian and International Resear ch and Academic institutions to have AMT solutions accepted and incorporated to deliver the significant benefits of AMT to Defence and commercial customers.

Neil has authored/co authored leading Journal Papers, books and book chapters and has been an invited speaker on Additive Technologies both in Australia and internationally on numerous occasions. Neil holds worldwide patents for Cold Spray applications.

Neil has been recognised for his effort in AMT by being awarded Defence Industry Service Commenda tion (2019), appointed as a Member of the Order of Australia (AM) (2021), and inducted into the ASM International Thermal Spray Society Hall of Fame (2022).
