For Australia’s First People, art, life, knowledge and identity are important aspects of a continuing tradition and a legacy that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander People must maintain for the benefit of future generations.Filmmaking that involves First People content or First People traverses across many levels of the cultural heritage spectrum.
For filmmakers, working with traditional owners in regional and metropolitan contexts, this may represent a whole new creative and cultural approach and therefore requires considering process in a different way.
This expert panel of videographers from Indigenous Outreach Projects deals with creative and business process and protocols in working with traditional owners in filming on country, including metropolitan areas and looks towards visioning projects that embrace deeper cultural relationships, respect, understanding and collaboration.
