The Way In: Starting and Shaping a Memoir (SOLD OUT)

About
Memoir can be the first big writing project a person does, but it's also one of the most daunting. A whole life story: how can it be pressed into a few hundred pages? Can you write about other people honestly? How do you find the focus? What about defamation? How do you make a memoir that other people might want to actually read? How do you cope when they do want to?
Kate Holden, author of bestsellers In My Skin and The Romantic, takes participants through the very first stages of memoir, through the shaping and structuring of the work, and into the deep issues of ethics and responsibilities. In this four-hour workshop (with a lunch break) she will discuss and present skills for working out what kind of memoir you are writing, what the main challenges are, and some of the surprises and satisfactions that await.
