In conjunction with World Preeclampsia Day, we are holding an awareness walk at Albert Park Lake. Come and walk on Sunday 23rd May at 10am at Albert Park Lake to raise awareness of Preeclampsia, Eclampsia and HELLP Syndrome. Preeclampsia (and the more severe forms of Eclampsia and HELLP Syndrome) affect 1 in 20 pregnancies.
Registration opens at 9am.
Coronavirus is still present in Australia and we must all be vigilant and play our part to reduce the spread. Please ensure you engage in COVIDSafe behaviours at our event and abide by the latest public health advice. https://www.coronavirus.vic.gov.au
To keep yourself, and other attendees safe at our event:
- keep your distance — stay 1.5 metres away from others
- practise good hygiene, including washing your hands
- cough or sneeze into a tissue or your elbow
- stay at home if you are unwell

AAPEC - WALK for PREECLAMPSIA GENERAL INFORMATION
Date: 23rd May 2021 at Albert Park Lake.
Registration: From 9.00am, the walk will begin at 10am. The registration desk will be set up near/in the BBQ shelter.
Location: Coot Picnic Area, Aughtie Drive (Mel Ref 2K E7) (directly opposite Melbourne Sports and Aquatic Centre). Entry to Aughtie Drive is from Albert Rd at the intersection with Clarendon St. (Mel Ref 2K E5)
Parking: Available in Lakeside Car Park (next to the stadium) for an all-day fee of $5.40. Machines take credit cards or coins but do not give change. Parking is also available on the Albert Rd access road (on the lake side, Mel Ref 2K G4).
Walk: The walk is approximately 5km around Albert Park Lake. The track surface is flat and suitable for prams and wheelchairs.
Medical Information: St Johns Ambulance volunteers will be present for the walk and able to assist anyone in need. If you need medical attention or become unwell during the event, seek support immediatly from St John Ambulance.
Toilets: There are facilities available at both Coot Picnic Area and across the road at Melbourne Sports and Aquatic Centre.
Raffle: Raffle tickets will be available for purchase on the day to raise vital funds to support AAPEC. Raffle will be drawn following our picnic lunch.
Post-walk: Please check in as you return from the walk (for insurance reasons we need to know that you’ve finished and haven’t accidentally fallen in the lake!) There will be a BYO picnic following the walk. A bottle of water and a piece of fruit is available for each participant - included in the entry.
Coffee/Food: We are pleased to welcome Coffee2you coffee van that will be onsite from 9am. Sir Albert Café is adjacent @ MSAC if you are needing to purchase food.
