A collaboration between Canberra International Music Festival and Luminescence, with the generous assistance of Wesley Music Centre. The words of Gabriel announcing Mary’s pregnancy prompted a joyous song of praise. This concert celebrates these prophetic words as set by three major figures in European polyphony who all share an important birthday: the Tudor composer Robert Fayrfax, the ‘Prince of Music’ Josquin Desprez and the German Michael Praetorius, who laid the grounding for centuries of music in the Reformed countries.
