Background
SLS Sydney Northern Beaches has identified a gender imbalance throughout our membership, that encompasses both our beach patrols and club boards. The average patrolling membership across our 21 clubs is 39% female and 61% male, and only 25% of our club executive positions are held by females. A conscious effort is needed to address this disparity.
By celebrating, empowering, and inspiring our female membership through an inclusive network, we can encourage women to take on leadership opportunities whilst also listening to their experiences, and identifying and rectifying barriers to participation. Ultimately, this process will lead to improvements in recruitment, retention, and innovation within our clubs.
How to Get Involved
SNB has nominated Saturday 26th March to celebrate all the amazing women and girls throughout our branch. Everyone is encouraged to join in the fun, as working towards equality is a responsibility that we all share. Read on to learn about the different ways you can participate.
- Turn your patrols pink on the morning of Saturday 26th March
All members are invited to show their support by wearing a splash of pink to patrols on the morning of Saturday 26th March. SLSSNB will be proving a pink zinc pack for clubs to use on the day and t-shirts are available for purchase (see link at end of page). The pack will be distributed by our Pink Zink coordinator, Saskia Clarke, so please keep an eye out for her emails and phone calls.
If Saturday 26th March doesn’t suit your club, you are welcome to nominate an alternate date. Please reach out to the Branch office if you’d like support with planning your patrol event.

Introduction
Pink Zinc Patrol is an all-female voluntary patrol that aims to showcasing our capabilities and progress since 1980 when females were first allowed to gain their Bronze Medallion. The patrol allows women of all ages to network, upskill, and learn in a welcoming and inclusive environment.
Inspired by Point Lonsdale and Ocean Grove SLSC’s Pink Zinc Patrols, Whale Beach SLSC is partnering with Surf Life Saving Northern Beaches to provide a patrol of highly qualified females to keep the public in safe hands and inspire others.

Purpose
