Let's experience Japanese ink art (Sumi-e) and create some art to take home. Sumi-e is the ancient art of Japanese brush painting, a simple monochrome ink art that evolved in Japan as a zen discipline. It is a powerful way to be in the moment and aware of your surroundings, to express the connection between nature and your inner self. You will have full experience of this unique meditative art form, make your own ink, and learn how to use different ink tones and brush techniques to create some simple and expressive paintings such as cherry blossoms, bamboo, Koi fish, mountains and trees, birds, chrysanthemum, rose, landscape, owl and calligraphy, etc. Theme: Calligraphy (5 May), Landscape (4 Aug) and Birds (10 Nov). All the materials will be provided and Japanese tea will be served :)Will be guided by Junko Azukawa:
