The Southern Young Lawyers Committee invite you to join them to watch brave early career lawyers enter into a battle of the wits in their chance to represent Tasmania at this year's National Golden Gavel Competition.

The Southern Young Lawyers Committee is calling upon all lawyers out there to join us for LOLs at the Golden Gavel on Friday 12 August.
The Golden Gavel is an opportunity for lawyers to showcase their comedic genius, and for the winner to win a trip to Canberra to compete in the national Golden Gavel Final on Friday 21 October.
Participants are given five minutes to argue their case on a usually far-fetched legal topic - revealed only 24 hours beforehand, and judged by a revered panel of notable comedians.
This year the Gavel returns to one of Hobart’s most iconic comedy and performance venues – the Kissing Room at the Grand Poobah.
While only early career lawyers (35 or under) may represent Tasmania at the national competition, WE INVITE ALL LAWYERS TO PARTICIPATE IN THE GOLDEN GAVEL.
