History in a Coffee Cup - Archaeology at the Museum
About
A place or site is considered archaeologically significant when its repetitive use has left identifiable clues of the past. The Claremont Museum, its surrounds and its archaeological heritage are listed on the state Register of Heritage Places. This means any ground disturbance must be monitored by a qualified archaeologist. Over the two weeks that the former Education Shed was being demolished and the foundations of the new Freshwater Gallery were being created, Trace Archaeology was on site every day collecting and recording anything unearthed. This HIACC join us for a morning of discovery as TRACE Archaeology dig into the importance of archaeology, and how it influences our understanding of place.
