Flute Fancies in Burradoo
Flute Fancies in Burradoo
With the return of spring around the corner, the Highlands Music Collective presents a stunning chamber music concert in the picturesque Southern Highlands towns of Burrawang and Burradoo. Their Flute Fancies concert last year featuring Edwina Carter sold out very quickly, so don't miss out this time!
Performers:
Edwina Carter - flute
Myee Clohessy - violin
Laura McCrow - violaCatherine Barnett - cello
Their well-balanced program begins with Mozart's dazzling flute quartet in D Major K. 285, which was written in the musical style Mannheim audiences were accustomed to at the time with falling, sighing figures and lyrical, lilting phrases. A pure joy to play and hear!
This will be followed by the melancholic Adagio from Beethoven's String Trio no 9, regarded by the composer himself as one of his best compositions. The score for the string trio will be handed out by Artistic Director Myee Clohessy as the chosen work for her new, 'Follow The Score for Curious Minds' initiative.
The concert finishes with the French romantic Grand Trio by Eugène Walckiers, written in 1830. This delightful four-movement trio journeys through a variety of moods and fascinating key changes, always highlighting the virtuosic writing for the flute that Eugène Walckiers was known for.
