Join us for full day of cultural competency training with Jillian West, Saturday 8 October.
Nomuckerlener provides Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural awareness training to businesses to help create a culturally safe environment both for workers and customers.
The purpose of this training is to:
- Increase participants’ knowledge and understanding of the issues, past and present, that affect Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander societies and communities.
- Provide information that will help participants to communicate sensitively and effectively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.

Our Speaker - Jillian West Jillian is a proud Bunurong woman from Point Nepean and Palawa woman from the Islands of Bass Strait born in Victoria with a lengthy career supporting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in work, education, and support in their life journey. Jillian from Nomuckerlener has worked extensively in the Indigenous space for 20 years and is strongly committed to working alongside community organisations, developing partnerships, and building cultural capacity. Jill strives to give Aboriginal people a voice through mentoring employment and education with the aim of closing the gap. |

Host - Helga Svendsen I am a connector: ideas to strategy to plans to action. I revel in connecting people and organisations and support them to make the world a better place. I am passionate about empowerment and wise decision-making. I specialise in governance, strategy, planning and stakeholder engagement. Building on my leadership roles in government, not-for-profit and membership organisations. I am a dynamic facilitator, a supportive and challenging coach, an effective trainer and an engaging speaker. I am a Board member of the Royal Women's Hospital and the Accident Compensation Conciliation Service. I founded the Board KickStarter and Board Accelerator programs, two group-coaching programs to support women into and in Non Executive Director roles. I am the host of Take on Board podcast. |
