Payment of Course Fees - Payment is to be made in full to secure a place in a Drum Effect course. Your booking is not confirmed until full payment has been made. Payments can be made online via the Drum Effect website (by credit card or debit card), or in cash. When you book online and your payment is processed successfully, you will receive an automated email. This is your booking confirmation.
Cancellations - Once the term has commenced, fees paid are non-refundable and non-transferable (unless a class is cancelled by Drum Effect). In the event of extraordinary circumstances such as serious illness or injury, please contact Drum Effect immediately to discuss your situation.
Refunds - Refunds for cancellations prior to the term commencing will be issued as follows:
Less than 4 days' notice – no refund
4 - 7 days' – 50% refund
More than 8 days' notice – 100% refund
Note - The term is considered to have commenced at the start time of the week 1 class.
Cancellations/changes by Drum Effect - In the unlikely event that Drum Effect needs to cancel or reschedule a class, we will endeavour to give you as much notice as possible. In the event of a cancelled class, a portion of the term fee (equal to the term fee divided by the number of classes in the term) will be refunded to you. To avoid cancelling scheduled classes, we may engage a substitute teacher to deliver the class in the event the usual teacher is unavailable.
Drumming, particularly indoors, can be very loud and can cause hearing damage. It is recommended you use ear plugs at all times when exposed to drumming (this includes during dance classes that are accompanied by live drumming).
If you cannot attend a class, if is appreciated if you can advise Drum Effect via email or SMS in advance. This helps to ensure the right seating configuration and equipment is set up for the class.
If your booking includes drum hire, a drum will be brought for you to use during the workshop or class. If you are attending a course, a drum will be brought to each session for you.
Drum Effect’s workshops and courses are aimed at adult learners. Children 12 years and older who have a genuine interest in (and preferably some experience with) djembe drumming are welcome to book into a Drum Effect workshop along with participating parent/guardian. In some cases, children 12 years and over might be able to join a Drum Effect course but this should be discussed with the course teacher prior to making a booking.
Audio recording during Drum Effect workshops, courses and retreats is permitted (at appropriate times during the workshop/class). Video recording is not permitted unless the class teacher specifically gives permission. Any audio or video recordings may only be used for personal, non-commercial use.
Drum Effect may take photos or sound/video recordings during classes for use in Drum Effect’s promotional material.
Final Class - The final class of the course is a combined class/performance for both the beginner and experienced classes. The times of the class may differ from the usual time and students will be notified of the timetable for the final class at least two weeks in advance.
To the extent permitted by law, Drum Effect excludes liability to you (including for negligence) for any injury, loss or damage you suffer or incur as result of participating in Drum Effect workshops, classes or retreats.
