Repertoire for 2025
Francis Poulenc: “Gloria” FP 177 – the complete work (around 35 mins)
Hubert Parry: “I Was Glad.” Coronation anthem for two choirs. Festival Chorus will be Choir II, Festival Chamber Choir will sing Choir I.
Information for participants:
Rehearsals will be 2 hours each.
You are expected to attend ALL SEVEN rehearsals, unless illness prevents you. Please notify Georgi if you will be absent from a rehearsal.
Evening Rehearsal Dates: 7.00pm – 9.15pm (Includes a 10 minute break)
Tuesdays 24 June | 1 July | 15 July | (No rehearsal in first week of school holidays) | 22 July | 29 July | 5 August
Final rehearsal 11.00am – 1.00pm – Saturday 9 August.
A link to download the music will be sent to you via email following registration.
If you have asked for a hard copy at registration, you will collect it at the first rehearsal. Otherwise, please bring your iPad or other electronic device to use your online music, on the evening of the first rehearsal.
You will be asked to familiarise yourself with the music, where possible, by listening to learning tracks made available to you online after registration.
Rehearsals will be held at the Christ Church Cathedral, Church Street, Newcastle. Most rehearsals will be seated.
Seating on chairs will be provided on stage and the choir will be seated between actual performances. The maximum time for continuous standing may be 30 minutes during the performance of the Gloria.
You may be photographed or filmed during rehearsals and performance and you agree that these images may be used on social media and for promotion in future years.
Each choir member will receive ONE complimentary ticket for a guest for this concert. This will be sent at the time of your registration and payment for participation. Choristers do not need to pay for your own ticket to the concert.
Participation in the Festival Choir is one of the great opportunities offered by Newcastle Music Festival, and an inspiring and wonderful community experience.
