AICD Marilyn Jones Awards 2026
COMPETITION DATE: Sunday 3rd May 2026
ENTRIES CLOSE: April 24, 2026,     ENTRY FEE: $100
1ST Place: $7000 plus Dancetrain Magazine subscription.
2ND Place (Garth Welch Memorial Prize): $3000 plus Dancetrain Magazine subscription.
3RD Place: $1000 plus Dancetrain Magazine subscription.
Registration for class – 1pm for 1:30pm start. 
Classical Solo Section commences at 2:50pm (Approximate conclusion, 4:30pm)  Timetable of the day may alter slightly depending on the number of competitors. Awards are offered to senior students aged aged 15-18 years  (age as of 3rd May 2025). A detailed timetable will be emailed to you closer to the date of the competition.     

 All competitors are assessed on their classical ballet class work as well as their variation performance. Class may include pointe work and boy's allegro, so competitors are advised to warm up well before class commences.  The solo section will follow the class. Contestants are required to perform a variation from classical repertoire, performed in traditional performance costume. 1st place winners of this event may not enter this competition the following year.

Registration: 8:45am (Solo only, no class) Classical Ballet Solo: 9:15am (no pointe shoes)
Approx. finish 10:15am
An original, choreographed solo or age-appropriate solo is to be performed in costume, approx. 2-2.5min in duration. Please be sure to properly warm up before solo performance.

NSW BALLET AWARDS AGES 13 & 14yrs (age as of 3rd May 2026) ENTRY: $85

Registration: 10am. Class: 10:30am - 11:30noon. Solo Section: 11:50pm - 1:30pm. A teacher's own choreography or a simple variation is to be performed in costume (pointe shoes for girls). Approx. 2-2.5min in duration. Please be sure to properly warm up before solo performance. Timetable of the day may alter slightly depending on the number of competitors. A detailed timetable will be emailed to you closer to the date of the competition.                                                  1st Place - (total value $1100) $500 Plus $600 Bloch gift voucher and Dancetrain Magazine subscription
2nd Place - (total value $700) $300 Plus $400 Bloch gift voucher and Dancetrain Magazine subscription

Music for solo section must be sent as an MP3 or MP4 to nsw.aicd@ballet.org.au no later than a week before this event.
Liability Waiver & Risk Acknowledgment: The entrants of this event, or if under the age of 18 years, the parents/guardians/teacher of such entrants, understand and agree that participating in any dance class and/or performance there is a possibility of physical injury. The entrant agrees to assume all risk related to any such injury or accident, which might occur to me or to any entrant for whom I am parent/guardian/teacher during class and/or performances. I exempt, release and fully indemnify AICD, its owners, agents, volunteers, assistants, employees, guest teachers, representatives or other students from any and all liability claims, demands, or causes of action of any kind or character whatsoever, in respect of any damage, loss, injury or death to me, any entrant for whom I am parent/guardian, or property belonging to me or such student which may arise out of or in connection with participation in any classes or activities conducted by AICD.  I confirm that I have provided AICD with all relevant information of any medication, existing medical conditions and/or limitations of that entrant. I agree to photos being taken during this event for promotional publications.
