Terms and Conditions  −  An 8-Week Men's Group (In-Person, Terrigal, March-June 2026)

TERMS AND CONDITIONS

Men’s Therapeutic Group Program

1. Program Overview
This is a therapeutic men’s group consisting of eight in-person sessions, each of two hours in duration. The group is facilitated by registered Australian Counselling Association (ACA) members and is conducted in accordance with ACA guidelines, relevant ethical frameworks, and applicable Australian and New South Wales legislation. The group explores weekly themes, which may include self awareness, emotional regulation, relationships, values, vulnerability, meaning, and personal development. While themes may guide each session, the group recognises that therapeutic process is central to the work. This means that what emerges within the group at any given time may shape the focus of sessions, alongside planned topics.

2. Eligibility and Suitability
Participation is subject to clinical suitability for group-based therapeutic work. The facilitators reserve the right to assess suitability prior to commencement and may recommend alternative or additional supports if the group is not considered appropriate for a participant’s needs. This group is not a crisis service and is not suitable for individuals requiring acute mental health intervention or emergency support.

3. Fees and Payment
The total cost of the program is $595 AUD. A 50 cent booking fee will be applied at check-out.
Full payment is required prior to commencing the first session. A place in the group is confirmed only upon receipt of full payment. Fees apply to the program as a whole and are not charged on a per-session basis.

4. Refund and Cancellation Policy
We offer a 100% refund if, for whatever reason you’re not completely satisfied within 48 hours of the first group and we’ll issue you a full refund. After this 48-hour period, expect that no refunds will be offered. As this is a therapeutic program with limited places:
No refunds are provided for missed sessions, late arrival, early withdrawal, or non-attendance.

If the facilitators cancel the program prior to commencement, a full refund will be issued.
If the program is cancelled after commencement due to unforeseen circumstances beyond the facilitators’ control, a pro-rata refund may be considered at the facilitators’ discretion.
These terms are consistent with obligations under Australian Consumer Law relating to the provision of services.

5. Attendance, Commitment, and Process
Participants are expected to make a genuine commitment to attending the group regularly.
Consistent attendance supports safety, trust, and continuity of therapeutic process. Group work relies not only on content, but on process, including relational dynamics, emotional expression, and shared reflection as they arise over time.

Participants are asked to notify facilitators in advance if they are unable to attend a session.
Ongoing non-attendance or behaviour that significantly disrupts the group process may result in withdrawal from the program without refund.

6. Group Guidelines and Conduct
To maintain a safe and therapeutic environment, participants agree to:
Engage respectfully with other group members and facilitators.
Allow space for differing perspectives and experiences.
Speak from personal experience rather than offering advice unless invited.
Refrain from aggressive, threatening, or discriminatory behaviour.
Not attend sessions under the influence of alcohol or non-prescribed substances.
For on-line groups group members are asked to always keep camera’s on (unless otherwise negotiated in the first week). Group members are asked to participate to be in a private space to perverse confidentiality of the group. It is strongly recommended that participants connect to the zoom meeting from a desk or laptop computer and not a mobile phone.
Facilitators reserve the right to intervene where conduct compromises group safety or therapeutic integrity and may discontinue a participant’s involvement if required.

7. Confidentiality and Mandatory Reporting

Confidentiality is a fundamental aspect of therapeutic group work.
Participants agree to respect the privacy of others and not share identifying information discussed within the group outside the group setting.
Absolute confidentiality cannot be guaranteed in a group context, and participants acknowledge shared responsibility for maintaining confidentiality.
Limits to confidentiality apply under Australian and New South Wales law and ACA guidelines. Facilitators are legally required to disclose information without consent in certain circumstances, including but not limited to:
Where there is a serious and imminent risk of harm to the participant or another person.
Where disclosure is required by a court order or subpoena. Mandatory reporting obligations under NSW law, including where there is a reasonable suspicion of child abuse or neglect, serious risk to the safety, welfare, or wellbeing of a child or young person, or other circumstances where reporting is required under relevant NSW legislation.
Where possible and appropriate, facilitators will seek to discuss such disclosures with the participant before action is taken.

8. Therapeutic Boundaries
This group provides therapeutic support but does not replace individual counselling, medical care, or emergency services. Facilitators do not provide crisis intervention outside scheduled group sessions.
Participants are encouraged to access additional support where required.

9. Privacy
Personal information is collected and managed in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and Australian Privacy Principles.
Information is used solely for the purpose of providing therapeutic services.
Records are stored securely and accessed only by authorised persons.

10. Risk and Responsibility
Participants acknowledge that engaging in therapeutic group work may involve emotional discomfort as part of personal growth.
Participants take responsibility for attending to their own wellbeing and self care.
Participants are encouraged to communicate with facilitators if they experience distress or difficulty related to the group process.

11. Changes to the Program.
Facilitators reserve the right to make reasonable changes to session topics, pacing, or focus as required to respond to the needs of the group, while maintaining the overall integrity of the program.

12. Acceptance of Terms
By enrolling in the program and completing payment, participants confirm that they have read, understood, and agreed to these Terms and Conditions.
