Terms and Conditions  −  2026 YOUTH ARTIST REGISTRATION, AGED 18 AND UNDER

PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING BEFORE REGISTERING
YOUTH TERMS & CONDITIONS
Definitions:
• Plein Air: Art done on-location, depicting what the artist can see.
• Festival: Plein Air Down Under (PADU), including all festival paint-outs, workshops, competitions, exhibitions and associated events.
• Registered Artist: An individual who has a paid registration to paint at this year's Plein Air Down Under festival.
• Entrant: A registered artist that has submitted artwork into this year’s Plein Air Down Under exhibition for judging.
• Entry/Entries: Artwork that has been submitted for judging.
• Commission: Part of an artwork’s overall sale price that goes towards the persons/organisation/etc hosting the exhibition that resulted in the artwork’s sale. NOTE: There is no commission on Youth entries.

Stamping of Surfaces:
1. Only stamped surfaces are eligible for judging.
2. Surfaces must start off blank. Pre-toned canvas, paper, or gessoed surfaces are acceptable, providing they are a single colour.
3. There is no limit to the number of blank surfaces; however, these will need to be stamped before painting begins. Stamping locations will be provided closer to the festival weekend.
Judging and Awards:
4. This is a Plein Air competition which means all Entries (the “Artwork”) must be the Entrant’s original work of art created, started and completed by the Entrant while outdoors, within the designated areas and times of the festival. The Artwork cannot be touched up or modified outside of the defined contest locations or time periods.
5. Artworks created during Plein Air Down Under Workshops or Masterclasses are not eligible for prizes and/or awards.
6. Entries submitted for judging must be an original plein air painting or artwork. No photography, prints or three-dimensional artworks will be accepted.
General:
7. Entrants will allow Plein Air Down Under to use photographs of paintings for existing and future promotional purposes.
8. Photography and videography will be used at all Plein Air Down Under activities and by registering to paint at the festival permission is given for Plein Air Down Under to use these photos and/or videos for existing and future promotional purposes.

9. Registered artists may from time to time receive an SMS message with information relevant to the Plein Air Down Under Outdoor Painting Festival.
10. Entrants aged 18 and under must include parent/guardian information on the Artist Registration Form.
Plein Air Down Under Festival Weekend Exhibition: Mandurah Performing Arts Centre 28 September to 11 October 2026
11. Each registered Youth artist may submit a maximum of two artworks to be exhibited at the Mandurah Performing Arts Centre (ManPAC), painted at Plein Air Down Under events on 26 and/or 27 September 2026.
12. Paintings exhibited as part of the Plein Air Down Under Festival Weekend Exhibition will need to be framed or for watercolours or pastels, presented with a matt board. Plan ahead and bring frames to suit the size of your board, canvas or paper.
13. Artwork for exhibition and judging can be submitted to ManPAC on Saturday 26 and Sunday 27 September, from 5 – 7pm each night, and will include the following:
• On the back: Artist name, title, price, medium, contact phone number,
• On the label provided: Artist name, title, price, medium,
• Hanging mechanism: i.e. two D Rings and cord.

14. It is the responsibility of the Entrant to present their work for judging in a professional manner, with appropriate framing and hanging options.
15. No commission will be applied to Youth artworks sold at the Festival Exhibition and/or any time during Plein Air Down Under Outdoor Painting Festival activities.
16. Payments to artists will be made approximately 30 days after the exhibition period, typically by bank transfer.
17. The Plein Air Down Under Festival Exhibition will run from 28 September to 11 October 2026. Paintings will hang for the duration of the exhibit unless prior arrangements have been made with the curator.
18. It is the Entrant’s responsibility to collect artwork on Monday 12 October, or arrange a method of delivery and/or freight. A Perth metropolitan collection point will be offered as an alternative to collecting from Mandurah. Artwork not collected will be donated to a local charity.
Refund Policy:
19. Artist Registration fees are non-refundable.
20. Participants who cancel a Masterclass registration more than 30 days before the event will incur a 20% retention fee.
21. Participants who cancel a Masterclass registration less than 30 days before the event will not receive a refund, however may transfer their place to another participant/person. A 20% retention fee will apply for the transfer to another participant.
22. All refunds that are due are issued after the festival weekend is over.
Pandemic Response Refund Policy:
23. In the event of a pandemic, Plein Air Down Under will be following the directive of Australia’s Chief Medical Officer. If the directive is to cancel the event, all Artist Registrations, Masterclass and Workshop fees will be refunded in full within four weeks of the cancellation date.
Privacy Notice:
Plein Air Down Under respects your privacy and may collect and use personal information such as your name, contact details, registration details, and payment information to manage events, competitions, workshops, and communications.
Photographs and video may be taken at events for promotional purposes. By registering or attending, you consent to the reasonable use of your image unless you notify us otherwise.
We do not sell personal information. We may share it only with service providers, volunteers, or funding bodies when required for event operations or reporting.
