General Rules & Guidelines

The AICD advises seating is limited at this venue to one support person per entrant to allow for teachers to attend this event.

Entry fee for audience is $10.00.
Concession/Child: $5
Souvenir Programs: $5.00

9-10 years

• Age of entry is as at the 1st June 2026.
• Registration will be at 8:30am.
• It is envisaged that this class will commence at 9:00am. Any changes will be confirmed closer to the date.
• This session will finish at approximately 12:30.
• In the solo performance section, it is recommended that appropriate costuming is used for the solo being presented but is optional for both male and female entrants.
• Music for solo is to be no longer than 2.5 minutes. Please refer to the general rules.
• Teachers own choreography is appropriate for this section. Variations are permitted: this list is at the end of these guidelines.

11-12 years

• Age of entry is as at the 1st June 2026
• Registration will be at 12:30pm.
• It is envisaged that this class will commence at approximately 1:00 pm. Any changes will be confirmed closer to the date.
• This session will finish at approximately 4pm.
• In the solo performance section, it is recommended that appropriate costuming is used for the solo being presented but is optional for both male and female entrants.
• Music for solo is to be no longer than 2.5 minutes. Please refer to the general rules.
• Teachers own choreography is appropriate for this section. Variations are permitted: this list is at the end of these guidelines.

Australian Institute of Classical Dance Inc. (Vic Committee) General Rules & Regulations

• Entries to each group are limited to 40 and on a first in basis.
• All entrants are to be at the venue a half hour prior for registration.
• Only entrants and representatives of the AICD Vic Committee will be allowed backstage for this event.
• Numbers will be provided on the day.
• All entrants will have class and then perform their solo, with the adjudicator’s decision being final.
• Solo music is to be 2.5 minutes. NO LONGER. Repertoire is permitted.
• All music is to be emailed as an mp3 to vic.aicd@ballet.org.au NO LATER THAN 2nd OCTOBER 2026. In the subject line note AICD Ballet Awards 9-10 or 11-12. Ensure that your mp3 file is named as last name, first name i.e., SMITH, Jenny
• Copyright of sound and /or soundtracks is the responsibility of the entrant and or participating school.
• The AICD Inc. reserves the right to take photographs and/or videos for promotional and/or newsworthy purposes only. If you do not consent to being photographed or filmed, you must advise the Institute in writing at least seven (7) days before the event.
• No photography or filming of the event is permitted for IP copyright protection and child protective laws.
• All candidates enter at their own risk.
• The AICD reserves the right to pass on the email address of the place getters to a specific sponsor for the purposes of receiving their prizes.

Refund policy:
The Australian Institute of Classical Dance Inc. (AICD) will grant special consideration to an entrant of any award or scholarship event, where they are unable to attend that event due to circumstances beyond their control, which include serious illness, compassionate reasons; a family bereavement, a natural disaster or serious adverse weather condition that prevents the entrant from attending the event. In these circumstances, compensation may be sought. The AICD will not grant special consideration on the grounds of minor illnesses, mistaken timing, optional commitments of a personal nature or if an entrant changes their mind. Refunds will not be considered for participants who withdraw less than 48 hours before the event.
An application for special consideration must be submitted to the secretary of the state committee where the event is held, within two weeks, following the event date. In the case of illness, this must comprise a signed medical certificate or doctor’s letter, indicating that the entrant was indisposed on the day of the event. In other cases, a signed statement from an appropriate person is required, outlining the circumstances, together with any other appropriate supporting documentation.
An application submitted for special consideration will be assessed by the relevant AICD State Committee and were deemed appropriate, and at its sole discretion, a portion of the entry fee; not less than 50%, may be refunded. Refunds will be processed within four weeks of the event being completed if all applicable details have been submitted.
