MILES AND DISTRICT MIXED NETBALL – 2025 SEASON
Season length 15 weeks starting the 16th of July and finishing the 12th of November excluding school holidays.
Covid Plan in place
When attending the games please consider the following:
• Do not attend if unwell (including any signs/symptoms of cold, flu, COVID-19 or other illness).
• No clearing your nose
• No spitting
• Cough into the elbow
• No sharing of personal equipment (this includes water bottles, towel, jumpers etc.)
• No physical greetings (i.e., hand shaking, high fives etc.).
• Avoid touching of eyes, nose or mouth
• Do not permit personal equipment on surfaces. Personal equipment bags should be arranged to permit physical distancing of participants (less than 1.5 metres).
• Shared participant equipment will be wiped with antibacterial wipes or alcohol-based sanitiser prior to and after each use and at each activity break.
• All spectators, bench players, scorers, timekeepers must maintain a social distance of at least 1.5 metre.
• Please leave the school area as soon as possible after your game.
• There will be no toilet facilities available at the grounds.
Location
• All games will be played at the Miles State Primary School under cover area on the corner of Pine and Edith Street
Starting the Game
• At the beginning of the game, both centre players from each team will ‘rock off’ for possession of the first centre pass. After this, the pass alternates between teams, irrespective of who scores the goal.
Game Format
• Games will be 4 x 12-minute quarters. 1 minutes between quarters and 2 minutes at half time. Teams must be ready to start at the correct time. If a team has not taken the court within 5 minutes of the start time the game will be a forfeit and points awarded to the ready team.
• Points are awarded as 3 points for a win, 2 points each for a draw, 1 point for a loss and 0 points for a forfeit.
• A maximum of 7 players may take the court at one time, and no less than 5 players.
• At least one male must start on the court and a maximum of 3 male on court at any one time.
• If during the game any males are injured which results in the team being left with no males then play may continue provided the team still has 5 players on court.
• Male players shall play one in each area of the court (mid court, goals, and defence). The combination is:
GS or GA
WA or C or WD*
GD or GK
• *Alternatively, if teams have two male players in the mid court, then they cannot have a male player in defence or goals. For example:
WA and C – cannot have a male in GS or GA
WD and C – cannot have a male in GD or GK
Playing Fee
• The fee for each player is $60.00 for the season. If someone joins your team after the start of the last round of the draw the fee reduces to $30.00.
• Players must be registered and financial by the second week of the season. No player will be eligible to take the court if they are not a financial member after this date. Receipts will be issued.
• We can keep our fees low due to the generous nature of the primary school.
Teams
• Players must at least be turning 13 years of age during the year to be eligible to play.
• A team can have any number of registered players on their team list.
• Teams must have at least 5 of their own players for the game to go ahead and to be awarded points.
• Team may use up to 2 floaters on court. However, floaters must not take the court for your team if you have seven of your registered players present.
• Floaters are not permitted to play in the finals.
• If your team is forced to forfeit, please contact the opposing team, duty team and Shannon 0447 564 98 as soon as possible, no later than 4pm. Please keep in mind not all players live in Miles and have got to travel.
• Please complete the score sheet prior to play with your player’s full names. At the end of the game please ensure you choose a players’ player and write this on the score sheet.
• Teams should arrive at least 5mins before every game to prepare to take the court on time to ensure all games run on time for the night.
Uniform
• Players are advised to wear suitable sports clothing and proper sports shoes must always be worn. Players cannot take the court in bare feet.
• No jewellery shall be worn
• All fitness trackers and watches must be removed before the game.
• Fingernails must be cut short to the satisfaction of the umpire. Alternatively, gloves may be worn
• Nails and jewellery will be checked by the umpires before the game
Duty
• When your team is scheduled for duty, you must provide 1 scorer/timekeeper. Remember to fill out the correct sections on the score sheet.
• The first team on duty is responsible for the setup of the court. Posts and pads put up and lights on. The last duty team is responsible for the putting away of the posts and pads and turning the lights off.
• All keys required are kept in the equipment bag.
Misconduct
• All players must be respectful towards each other, as well as towards the umpires. This competition is social and must be enjoyed by everyone. Any form of player misconduct will not be tolerated and may result in you or your team being excluded from the competition.
Smoking
• No smoking is permitted on school grounds
• Smokers must be at least 5m from the school boundary fence
• Smoking will not be tolerated on school grounds and may result in player being excluded from the competition
House Keeping
• Please do not leave any rubbish around the courts.
• Lights turned off at the end of the night
• Post pads are to be sanitised at the end of the night
• Posts are to be put back in the primary school sports room
• All doors are to be locked at the end of the night
• All personal belongings are to be taken with you when you leave
• The Primary School are good enough to allow us the use of the courts so please respect their courts.
