FAQ
Does everyone have to wear a mask?
Yes! We understand some people have legitimate medical exemptions for mask wearing, for those folks we invite you to join our main choir which is outdoors and is not mask-mandatory.
Can someone under 18 join us?
Unfortunately not for these sessions.
Can I wear a cloth mask?
No, it doesn't provide enough protection from viruses. Your mask must be an N95, KF94, P2 or a mask of a similar rating. We will have some spares at the door for purchase in case anyone arrives without a suitable mask, you will be asked to change it over.
Do I need to test before I come?
We do not require testing as unfortunately RATs are not reliable enough with asymptomatic Covid infections. We do ask that you do not attend with any cold/flu or Covid type symptoms, or if anyone in your house has Covid/Flu/RSV or if you have been knowingly exposed to these in the last 7 days. You will be fully refunded for any sessions you miss taking these precautions.
What other safety measures will you have?
We will have at least one large Samsung air purifier and we are working on 2!
Can I bring my own personal air purifier?
Of course, the more the merrier.
What is ventilation like in the space?
Quite honestly, it could be better. There are doors that open to the outside on one side of the room lengthways and one single door on the other. We will absolutely have them open, but the cross flow isn't huge. Melbourne Council venues rarely have good cross flow as they are designed to be climate controlled.
How big is the space?
It's pretty big, capacity is 100 seated and we are capping at 40. We will space chairs out a bit so that folks are distanced.
What’s it like singing in a mask?
Singing in a mask is different for everybody and obviously it is more restrictive than singing without. But it is possible and many choirs did it in 2021. You may want to have a practice at home singing with a few different types of masks to see which is most comfortable for you. We will be singing songs chosen on purpose that do not have long notes or dense lyrics to ensure the experience is as pleasant as possible. Sometimes you may need to take a break during the session to step outside and get some fresh air and that is totally fine. If you are unsure please book a casual ticket, come to the first session and see how you find it.
Can I drink during the session?
Of course. We do ask that you try not to de-mask inside during the session if possible though. We will build in a few water breaks for us to step outside and have a good drink. If you do not have mobility issues we ask that you step outside, however if you have mobility issues you are welcome to stay in your chair and have a quick drink.
Is the space accessible for mobility devices?
Yes, we have chosen it specifically as it has accessible toilets and is step free. There is space for two extra cars to park onsite if required so please reach out if you need to park close to the entrance.
Can I bring a carer for free?
Absolutely, as long as they are happy to comply with mask wearing. No need for them to purchase a ticket, just shoot us an email as a heads up.
