AIMS
During Year 11 a Presentation Ball is held for Year 11 students, organised by the College. The major aims of the Presentation Ball are:
• To bring Year 11 students together in a happy, relaxed atmosphere.
• To learn the basics of formal Ballroom dancing.
• To make students aware of social graces, formal dress and deportment.

Past students reflect that the Presentation Ball is a major highlight of their years at Salesian College. The College endeavours that the Presentation Ball is a memorable occasion for participants, their families and their friends.
 
REHEARSALS
Rehearsals will take place in Lakeside Stadium. Students will be divided into two groups and will rehearse at the following times:

Group 1: 4.00pm – 5.00pm
Group 2: 5.00 pm – 6.00 pm

Students must attend all rehearsals. Work or sporting commitments will not be accepted as a valid reason for not attending rehearsal sessions. Arrangements must be made with employers/sporting coaches & clubs to be excused on this day for the duration of the rehearsal period. All College rules and regulations apply during rehearsals. Students are asked to wear their full and complete PE uniform to all rehearsals.

RULES FOR PARTICIPATION
The following set of rules applies to all students participating in the Presentation Ball.

• Attendance is mandatory at ALL Presentation Ball rehearsals for all participants.
• It is the responsibility of students to organise their own partners.
• All students must wear the full school PE uniform to rehearsals, including the shoes they will wear on the evening of the Ball (it is best for students wearing suits to wear their school shoes to rehearsals).
• All College rules apply for the duration of each rehearsal class. This includes uniform, chewing gum & use of mobile phones.
• Ball gowns are required to be white/cream in colour and of a formal, full-length style, in keeping with the spirit of a Catholic College.
• Gowns with a low neckline, exposed midriff (including see through material), strapless, or low back (lower than the bra line) are considered inappropriate for the event and are not to be worn.
• All gowns must be approved well in advance (by the latest two weeks prior to the Ball) and students must send a photo of their gown to the Bosco Directors/nominated staff member (front & back of the gown whilst wearing it).
• All gowns must include straps (these are to be worn for the duration of the evening and are not to be removed).
• White, Cream or Silver dress shoes with an ankle strap are to be worn with the gown. A ‘sneaker’ style shoe can be worn.
• Dress shoes must be worn by Week 2 of rehearsals.
• Hire will be arranged for students wearing suits. Black socks must be worn with the suit. Shoes must be supplied by the student.
• This is an alcohol and smoke fee event.
• Limousines are permitted to be hired to transport students to the Ball only with parental consent.
• Participants are asked to arrive dressed and ready for the Ball on the day.
• No street clothes or large bags are to be brought into the venue (the venue does not have capacity to store these items).
• The College does not condone ‘after parties’ and strongly advises parents not to risk hosting such events.

Acceptance into the Presentation Ball Set is made on the understanding that parents and participants fully support the above policy.

Complete co-operation by the students with the above rules is essential. If a student does not fully co-operate with the Ball organisers they risk being withdrawn from the set after consultation with the Principal and Directors of the Bosco Campus.

The College Principal reserves the right to withdraw any student from the Presentation Ball Set.

FEES & TICKETS
All participants in the Presentation Ball will be charged an initial participant fee. This fee covers dance lessons, access to a digital download of the evening, hire of the suit, student dinner ticket and associated administration charges.

Fees are as follows:

Students wearing gowns: $390.00
Students wearing suits: $420.00
