Bloom by Elladee — Parent/Guardian Consent & Content Disclaimer

About this session
Bloom is a nurse-led puberty education session designed to give young people accurate, age-appropriate information about the physical and emotional changes of puberty in a safe, supportive environment. The session is delivered by qualified registered nurses.
What we cover:
The Science of Puberty
- What hormones are and what they do in the body
- Physical changes to expect: body hair, breast development, skin changes, body odour, and emotional changes
- Female and male reproductive anatomy, and an overview of how reproduction works
- An introduction to the menstrual cycle

Self-Care and Safety
- Period products and menstrual hygiene
- Managing emotions and stress during puberty
- Bodily autonomy and consent
- Understanding safe vs unsafe touch, and the importance of not keeping secrets that involve their body
- Knowing when and how to ask a trusted adult for help

Hands-on activities
Participants assemble a take-home emergency period kit, take part in different games that introduce anatomy and sanitary products, and the workshop closes with a myth-busting activity and an open Q&A.

Our approach to questions
We want every girl to leave feeling informed, not confused. All questions asked during the session will be answered honestly and directly, using correct terminology and age-appropriate language. Our educator uses professional judgement to ensure answers are accurate, respectful, and suitable for the group, but no question is dismissed or left unanswered. Girls are also welcome to ask questions privately with the educator if they'd prefer not to ask in front of the group.

Our approach
All content is delivered using correct anatomical terminology in a warm, respectful, and age-appropriate way. Our aim is to reduce shame and confusion around puberty and to equip young people with accurate information and the confidence to seek help when they need it. Discussions of safety, consent, and touch are framed around protecting children and helping them recognise when something isn't right, not around any specific incident or scenario.
