CBD Spring Clean-Up – Terms and Conditions
Event: CBD Spring Clean-Up
Date: Monday, 16 November 2026
Time: 4.30pm–5.30pm
Location: Commercial Road and surrounding CBD, Port Augusta
Organised by: Port Augusta City Council, through the Building Safer Spaces Program, with support from Business Port Augusta.
1. Participation
1.1 Participation in the CBD Spring Clean-Up is open to local businesses located in or around the Port Augusta CBD.
1.2 Businesses are encouraged to register their participation before the event.
1.3 By registering, businesses agree to these Terms and Conditions and acknowledge that participation is voluntary.
1.4 Businesses are responsible for ensuring that their employees, contractors and volunteers participating in the clean-up are aware of and comply with these Terms and Conditions.
2. Clean-Up Activities
2.1 Participating businesses are encouraged to spend approximately one hour cleaning and refreshing the area immediately surrounding their business.
2.2 Activities may include:
sweeping and removing litter;
removing cobwebs and dust;
cleaning windows and shopfronts;
tidying garden beds and outdoor areas;
removing weeds where appropriate; and
generally improving the presentation of the business frontage.
2.3 Participants must only undertake activities that are safe, lawful and appropriate to their abilities and the area being cleaned.
2.4 Participants must not undertake activities on roads, in traffic areas, at heights, near electrical infrastructure, or in other hazardous locations.
2.5 Participants must not remove, relocate or interfere with Council infrastructure, street furniture, signage, trees, public art, landscaping or other public assets without Council approval.
3. Safety
3.1 Participants are responsible for their own safety and the safety of their employees, volunteers and others participating on their behalf.
3.2 Appropriate clothing, enclosed footwear, gloves and other suitable personal protective equipment should be worn where required.
3.3 Participants should take care when handling rubbish or other materials and must not handle syringes, needles, chemicals, hazardous materials or other dangerous items.
3.4 Any hazardous items or unsafe conditions identified during the clean-up should be reported to Council rather than handled by participants.
3.5 Participants must follow any reasonable safety directions provided by Council staff or event representatives.
4. Waste and Disposal
4.1 Waste collected during the clean-up should be placed in the locations or receptacles nominated by Council.
4.2 Participants must not place waste in private bins without the owner's permission.
4.3 Hazardous, oversized or prohibited waste must not be placed in general waste bins and should be reported to Council for appropriate advice or disposal.
4.4 Council will undertake its own street sweeping and footpath cleaning as part of the initiative.
5. Incentives and Promotional Offers
5.1 Any incentives or promotional items offered as part of the CBD Spring Clean-Up are subject to availability and any specific eligibility requirements communicated by Council.
5.2 Incentives may include coffee vouchers, window-cleaning vouchers, floral arrangements or other promotional items.
5.3 Incentives are not transferable or redeemable for cash unless otherwise stated.
5.4 Council reserves the right to change or withdraw an incentive where circumstances outside its control require this.
6. Shopfront Improvement Funding
6.1 Where funding or grants are promoted in connection with the CBD Spring Clean-Up or Building Safer Spaces Program, separate eligibility criteria, application requirements and funding conditions may apply.
6.2 Participation in the clean-up does not guarantee approval for any funding or grant application.
7. Weather and Event Changes
7.1 Council reserves the right to postpone, modify or cancel the CBD Spring Clean-Up if weather conditions, safety concerns or other circumstances make the event unsuitable or unsafe.
7.2 Where reasonably possible, Council will communicate any significant changes to registered participants.
8. Liability
8.1 Participants take part in the CBD Spring Clean-Up at their own risk.
8.2 To the extent permitted by law, Council is not responsible for loss, damage, injury or expense arising from participation in the event, except where liability cannot lawfully be excluded.
8.3 Businesses are responsible for ensuring they have appropriate insurance coverage for their employees, contractors and volunteers participating in the event.
9. Photography and Promotion
9.1 Council and its event partners may take photographs or video during the CBD Spring Clean-Up for Council communications, promotional and community engagement purposes.
9.2 Businesses wishing to participate in photographs or promotional content should advise Council staff or event representatives.
10. Privacy
10.1 Personal information collected through registration will be handled in accordance with applicable privacy requirements and Council's privacy practices.
10.2 Registration information may be used for event administration, communication and evaluation of the CBD Spring Clean-Up.
11. Council's Rights
11.1 Council reserves the right to refuse or withdraw participation where a business or participant does not comply with these Terms and Conditions or where participation presents a safety or operational concern.
11.2 Council may amend these Terms and Conditions where reasonably necessary to ensure the safe and effective delivery of the event.
12. Acceptance
By registering for or participating in the CBD Spring Clean-Up, participants acknowledge that they have read, understood and agree to these Terms and Conditions.
TryBooking is an online system for organisations and community groups that has been designed to look after the entire event ticketing and registration needs.
All issues relating to the sale of tickets and the hosting of their associated event(s) are the responsibility of the “Event Organiser” and not that of TryBooking Pty Ltd (Australian Business Number 71126987915).
