Terms & Conditions and League Rules
Season 1
1. Introduction & Acceptance
Welcome to the Yarra Bend Golf Range League (“the League”), held at Yarra Bend Golf Range (“YBG”, “the Range”, “the Venue”). By registering a team or nominating as a player, you agree to be bound by these Terms & Conditions, the General Driving Range Terms & Conditions, and the League Rules set out below. YBG reserves the right to amend these Terms & Conditions at any time, with reasonable notice provided to players via the League's communication platform.
2. General Driving Range Terms & Conditions
These general conditions of entry apply to all players, guests and spectators at Yarra Bend Golf Range at all times, in addition to the League Rules in Section 3.
2.1 Safety & Conduct
• Players must follow all directions given by YBG staff at all times.
• Only one player is to occupy a bay at any given time when hitting balls.
• Do not enter the driving range field or retrieve balls from the range at any time.
• Clubs must be gripped securely at all times; check your swing space is clear before taking a shot.
• Children must be supervised by a responsible adult at all times and must not swing clubs unsupervised.
• Appropriate golf or sports attire and enclosed footwear must be worn. Bare feet, thongs/flip-flops and sandals are not permitted in the bays.
• Any horseplay, misuse of equipment, or reckless behaviour that endangers others may result in immediate removal from the Venue without refund.
2.2 Equipment & Facilities
• Players are welcome to bring their own clubs, or hire clubs from YBG (subject to availability and any applicable hire fee).
• Range balls remain the property of YBG at all times and must not be removed from the premises.
• Players are responsible for any loss or damage to hired equipment caused by misuse and may be charged for replacement.
• Bay allocations are at the discretion of YBG staff and may be adjusted to manage venue capacity.
2.3 Alcohol & Food
• Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA) laws apply at all times. YBG staff may refuse service to any patron.
• Patrons who are, in the reasonable opinion of YBG staff, intoxicated may be refused entry, refused further service, or asked to leave the Venue.
• Outside food and beverages (including alcohol) are not permitted on-site unless otherwise approved by YBG.
2.4 Weather & Cancellations
• YBG operates in most weather conditions; however, sessions may be delayed, shortened or cancelled at the discretion of YBG in the event of severe weather (e.g. lightning, storms) for safety reasons.
• Where a session is cancelled by YBG for safety or operational reasons, League Admin will advise on rescheduling or point allocation – see Section 3.8 (Byes & Forfeits).
• No refunds are provided for late arrival or early departure from a booked session.
2.5 Liability & Personal Property
• Golf is a sport involving inherent risks, including the risk of being struck by a golf ball or club. By participating, players acknowledge and accept these risks.
• YBG, its owners, staff and league partners accept no liability for any injury, loss or damage arising from participation in the League or use of the Venue, except where such liability cannot be excluded by law.
• YBG accepts no responsibility for loss, theft or damage to personal property brought onto the premises.
• Players participate in the League at their own risk and are encouraged to hold their own personal injury or health insurance.
2.6 Right of Admission
• Management reserves the right to refuse entry or service, or to remove any person from the premises, without refund, for conduct that is unsafe, abusive, or otherwise inappropriate.
• YBG is a shared community facility – please be respectful of other patrons, including those not participating in the League.
• Inappropriate and discriminatory language will not be accepted on Spond; management has the right to remove you from the group without notice.
2.7 Photography & Promotion
• YBG and the League may take photos or videos during league nights for promotional and social media purposes including for League partners
• Players who do not wish to be photographed should advise League Admin in writing prior to the season starting.
2.8 Privacy
• Personal information collected for registration (e.g. name, contact details, GA handicap number) will only be used for the purposes of administering the League, including communications via Spond, and will not be shared with third parties without consent, except as required to operate the competition (e.g. handicap verification).
3. League Format & Rules
3.1 Overview
• Format: Team Scramble, 2–4 players per team.
• Season Length: 6-week Fixture season, followed by 2 Finals Weeks.
• Frequency: Friday nights, 6:00pm – 8:00pm, weekly.
• Venue: Yarra Bend Golf Range – Roadside Bays.
• Six (6) teams play in the League each week.
• Weekly prizes are proudly supported by League partner – Mountain Goat
• Pricing: $30 per player; this includes unlimited driving range balls for the 2 hours, rental of driving range bay/hire equipment and 1 drink of choice per player.
3.2 Team Handicaps
Each team plays off a combined Team Handicap, calculated by summing each player's individual handicap and dividing by the relevant factor below:

This divisor system is used to balance the advantage of larger teams, ensuring fair competition between 2, 3 and 4-player teams.
3.3 Establishing Player Handicaps
• Players who hold a current Golf Australia (GA) Handicap will have that handicap used towards their Team Handicap.
• Players without a GA Handicap must nominate a handicap prior to the season starting.
• YBG staff will monitor scores across the season and may adjust a nominated (non-GA) handicap where it is deemed to no longer reflect a player's demonstrated ability, in order to maintain fair competition.
3.4 Fill-In Players
• Where a team cannot field at least three (3) of its registered players for a given week, a fill-in player may be used to make up the team.
• All fill-in players play off a maximum handicap of 8, regardless of their actual ability or GA handicap. If a fill-in has a GA Lower than 8 they will play off their GA Handicap.
• Fill-ins must be arranged and confirmed with League Admin prior to the round, where possible.
3.5 Weekly Scoring & Points
Each week, all competing teams are ranked by team score (gross score less Team Handicap). Points are awarded as follows:

Where only two (2) teams play in a given week, the lowest score receives 5 points, the second lowest receives 4 points, and all other (non-competing) teams receive 0 points for that week.
3.6 Countback (Tie-Breaker)
Where two or more teams finish with the same score in a given week, the following countback method applies, in order, until the tie is broken:
1. Lowest score over the last 9 holes.
2. If still tied, lowest score over the last 6 holes.
3. If still tied, lowest score over the last 3 holes.
3.7 Ladder
• A season ladder will be maintained based on cumulative points earned each week across the Fixture season.
• Ladder position at the end of the Fixture season will determine seeding/qualification for the 2 Finals Weeks
• Finals weeks; after the conclusion of the regular season, 2 weeks of finals will play out. Finals fixture will be played with First V Fourth and Second V Third. Winning teams from both matches advance to Grand Final.
3.8 Byes, Forfeits & Non-Attendance
• Teams must confirm their attendance each week via Spond (see Section 4).
• A team that is unable to compete in a given week will receive zero (0) points for that round and be charged a forfeit fee of $60, which will be deducted from the team's card kept on file.
• Teams should notify League Admin via Spond as early as possible if they cannot field a team, to allow bay numbers to be adjusted.
4. Weekly Administration & Communication
4.1 Platform – Spond
All League communication, scheduling and results will be managed through Spond (a free app and website). Spond will be used to:
• Publish the full season schedule in advance – the same time slot each week for 6 Fixture weeks plus 2 Finals weeks.
• Send automatic reminders ahead of each round, with players/teams required to RSVP as “attending” or “not attending” so bay numbers can be adjusted accordingly.
• Post weekly scores, updated ladder standings, and any other important League updates.
• Provide a messaging system for players/teams to contact League Admin with questions or issues.
• Run polls to gather direct player feedback on League format and other initiatives being trialled this season.
All players are asked to join the League's Spond group prior to the season starting, so that fixtures, results and important information remain easy to find in one place.
4.2 Scoring & Results
• Scores will be recorded and calculated using a dedicated Excel spreadsheet, applying a simple deduction of each team's Handicap from their total gross score.
• A screenshot of the weekly results and updated ladder will be posted to Spond after each round.
4.3 Player Responsibilities
• Ensure your team's attendance is confirmed via Spond ahead of each round.
• Arrive with enough time to be checked in and settled in your bay prior to the 6:00pm start.
• Report your team's final scorecard to League Admin/YBG staff promptly at the end of each round.
• Raise any handicap, scoring or format queries with League Admin via Spond in the first instance.
5. General
• This is a trial season – the League format, handicapping system and admin processes may be reviewed and adjusted between seasons and or during the season, based on player feedback gathered via Spond polls.
• Any disputes regarding scoring, handicaps or League Rules will be reviewed and determined by League Admin/YBG staff, whose decision will be final.
• These Terms & Conditions should be read alongside YBG's standard Venue Terms & Conditions, which continue to apply.
• Registration in the League constitutes acceptance of all terms set out in this document.
