Bendigo Steam Train Rides - Sunday 8th & MONday 9th June
Join us for our Bendigo Steam Train Shuttles for a 55 minute return steam train ride from Bendigo Railway Station.
Wave to the Bendigo locals and the lineside photographers while we take you back in time aboard The Vintage Train. Our shuttle trips run 20km north to the country hamlet of Woodvale, known for its gold mining activities since 1852. Stopping in the centre of the area's lush farming plains, our steam locomotive will then return us to Bendigo Station at high speed.
Take a seat in our heritage compartment style carriages with beautiful wood veneer panelling, pressed tin ceilings and opening windows to fully experience the steam era!
Come along for a ride on The Vintage Train for a fun family day out through Northern Victoria.
- Melbourne - Bendigo Transfer Trains - Friday 6th June and MONday 9th June
Board our transfer train for the journey from Melbourne to Bendigo on Friday, or returning to Melbourne on Monday. Both transfer trains will pick up and set down at Southern Cross Station for connections with V/Line and Metro Trains services. R711 will be accompanied by S301 to haul our 700 tonne train out of Melbourne and up the almost 160 year old line to Bendigo. Take in the sights and sounds of the locomotives working hard through the forests as we climb the Great Dividing Range and through the tunnels at Elphinstone and Big Hill. Admire stunning views of central Victoria as the train traverses the 120 foot high viaduct above the town of Taradale, constructed in 1862. Arriving in Bendigo at approximately 3:33pm, our volunteer crew will stable the train as you enjoy what Bendigo has to offer for the afternoon. Make your way home via a V/Line train at your leisure, or make a long weekend of it, returning with us via steam on Monday afternoon after a busy long weekend in Bendigo. Tickets are available for either one way travel to, or from Bendigo, or for return travel at a reduced fare. - on train services
- Our on-train facilities include a kiosk which stocks a range of light refreshments, snacks and hot and cold drinks. A licensed bar will also be operating, serving a range of beers, wines and spirits. A range of souvenirs will also be able for purchase from our on-board store.
