The City of Perth Library’s Not a Book Club is a new author in-conversation series for readers who love stories, ideas, and conversation—without the homework.
Hosted by the indefatigable Will Yeoman, this new series brings a mix of Western Australian favourites and touring authors for exclusive in-conversation events throughout 2026. With a blend of free and ticketed sessions, there’s something for everyone, and you can come to one or all six events.
Our second event features WAMi-inducted musician and Ned Kelly Award-winning crime novelist Dave Warner and explores his new ‘cosy crime’ novel, Sound Mind Dead Body.
Many will know Dave for his gritty crime noir. Now he returns with an affectionate and highly entertaining homage to his first love: Agatha Christie.
Join Dave in conversation with Not a Book Club host Will Yeoman as they explore Dave’s multifaceted career as a writer and musician. As a bonus, Dave will
intersperse the discussion with live performances of a couple of songs suited to the novel’s period.
Mystery, music and mayhem – what’s not to like?
Enjoy a glass of wine on arrival & light refreshments provided. Books will be available for purchase and signing on the night.
